Majid and Frank Raja on set
GHANAIAN actor Majid Michel is all set to break new barriers and shock a lot of fans as he walks in the award winning but unsafe shoes of top investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The top actor, who is most often described as a ‘screen bad boy’, is relegating some of the ‘bad boy’ traits to the background to play the role of an investigative journalist in his upcoming movie titled ‘Somewhere In Africa’.
This role is to clearly appreciate the good works of some investigative journalists and Anas is one of such persons in Ghana.
Majid is playing the role of a struggling undercover journalist, who is trying to get a very big break. However his editor is making this mission a near impossibility.
Aside that, all is also not well at home as he does not have time for his family because he is always traveling from one country to another to investigate stories.
Majid, a father of two, has played different roles in countless movies but the performance he puts out in ‘Somewhere in Africa’ is unprecedented.
He is playing the role of a journalist despite his several unpleasant encounters with members of Ghana’s inky fraternity, especially entertainment writers.
NEWS-ONE visited Majid while he was on location shooting the said movie and this was what he had to say: “So far, this is the most difficult thing compared to any other movies that I have done.
Sometimes, when we finish shooting, it takes us about two hours to just get the make-ups off. We also have to talk in a certain accent which is unusual.”
He actually played two different characters in the movie. He acted as a journalist called Frank and then as the wicked King Mumbasa of a Kingdom in Africa called Kinbala.
The director, Frank Raja, said he had been working on the movie for the past one and half years and expressed the hope that it would cause a big stir when it finally comes out.
“This is a movie enthusiasts would want to see. I have planned this movie several years back and I had to put myself together and make sure that all the props are ready.
I will not say much but I will say it is a fantastic movie and Africa should watch out for us. I know this is not going to be my best as far as film production is concerned but this movie is sure going to be the best I have ever made,” Frank Raja told NEWS-ONE.

I’m Not A Virgin
Evangelist Diana Asamoah
Gospel Songstress Evangelist Diana Asamoah has confessed that contrary to public perception about her, she would not play a holier-than-thou attitude by pretending that she is a virgin.
The golden-voiced gospel composer recently hinted that she actually completed Middle School Form four (Standard 7) before she got to know a man.
She further revealed that even though she had won 11 big-time awards outside the country, she couldn’t get a single award in Ghana simply because local organizers usually wanted her to pay monies before she gets that recognition, which she and her producer were not ready to do.
According to her, she went wayward a bit in life, adding that it was just the Grace of God that had brought her out of that kind of life.
She stressed that looking back at her past, she could say if she had not come out of that ‘immoral life’, she would have by now given birth to so many children with different fathers.
Diana, who celebrated her tenth year in the gospel music industry this year in Sunyani, made this revelation on Deloris Frimpong-Manso’s programme, Delay on TV3.
She was, however, grateful to God for bringing her this far. The lady evangelist started her gospel career from humble beginnings, saying she joined the industry in 1999 with the help of Rev. Simon Yaw Boama, and she had since not looked back.
Apart from her gospel music, she also works with two Kumasi-based radio stations, Angel FM and Light FM, as a preacher.
She has so far received 11 awards outside the country, saying she is not disturbed even though she has not received any award from Ghana.
“I am not disturbed in any way at all because I have not won any award in Ghana; after all, I have 11 awards outside Ghana.
I have not won any award from Ghana because my producer, Mr. Anane Frimpong of Frimprince Music Production, has refused to pay monies demanded by some organizers who have been calling him to pay something so that I could win an award. I think it’s a good thing my producer is doing,” she disclosed.
The albums released so far by the gospel diva include ‘Woma Mani Agyina’, ‘Mabo’, ‘Akoko Abon’, ‘Madanse Die’, ‘Pentecost Gya’ and ‘Gospel Old Tunes’.
